With the bipartisan infrastructure bill passed, the task now is ensuring those investments are effectively—and equitably—implemented.

Historically, small businesses only get a small piece of federal contracting dollars. For minority small business owners, that slice is even less. Barriers to growing and starting businesses and confusing procurement requirements have put winning a contract out of reach for far too many.

The Department of Transportation is at the center of efforts to change that. Please join the Alliance for Entrepreneurial Equity for an in-person conversation with Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg as we explore the massive investment this Administration has made in infrastructure and the need to ensure minority-owned businesses and communities can fully participate.

Joining us for a fireside chat will be Marc H. Morial, President & CEO of the National Urban League. Following that, a panel will discuss tangible ways for minority-owned businesses to participate fully in federal investments. Panelists include:

  • Tyra Redus, Acting Director, Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization, Department of Transportation
  • Teresa Lewis, Executive Business Consultant, Greater Washington Urban League
  • Andrea Jackson, Deputy Compliance Officer, District Department of Transportation
  • Imani Augustus, Director, Alliance for Entrepreneurial Equity (moderator)
